Course Abstract
Through a combination of instructor-led discussions and workshops this seminar will demonstrate the process of developing XML documents using IBM’s WebSphere Studio Application Developer IDE. The course will allow student’s to develop the knowledge and skills you need to build a Web application of moderate complexity using Extensible Markup Language (XML) technology. This course will focus on; creation and validation of DTDs, XML documents and schemas, building JavaBeans from DTD or XML schema, XML document mappings, use of XSL style sheets, relational table and DTD mappings and deployment issues.

  • Define the Document Object Model (DOM)
  • Illustrate the role of DTDs (Document Type Definitions)

  • Structuring data using XML tags
  • Illustrate the use of Element, Entity and Attribute Declarations
  • Understand the use of Namespaces
  • Discuss the usage of cascading style sheets (CSS)
